Drive-up, then a 1.5 mile hike to summit.

Getting There:

Rt. 100 North to Rt. 108 North in Vermont.  If you are driving up, the Stowe auto road is 6 miles north of the 100/108 intersection and is on the left.    If taking the Gondola, the entrance is about 3 miles further down the road..

 

Trip Description:

After paying the access fee to enter the auto road (about $15), there is a fairly well maintained 5 mile gravel road (easily traveled with a regular passenger vehicle) that leads to a summit station. There is a small parking lot at the summit.  

 

Follow the blazed trail (to the right of the station) about 1.5 miles to the summit.  Note:  The trail gains about 500 feet and is a bit rough in spots, so give yourself about 60- 90 minutes each way.  Also, give yourself time to return to the bottom before they close and lock the gate to the road (when I went, it was at 4:00pm).
