Tidbits:  Highest mountain in New Jersey. Location of the world's longest cross country trail containing man-made snow.

When to go:

Anytime, although snow can block the summit road intermittently in the winter time. Highpoint State Park is also the location of the world's longest cross country trail containing man-made snow.  The Appalachian Trail passes through the park as well.

 

Route Selection:

You can drive directly to the summit parking area and walk 100 yards to the top. NOTE: During the summer months there is an entry fee to this area of the park, mostly intended for people using the lake for swimming, but applies to everyone. Also, entry into the monument is possible during certain times in the summer and early autumn.

 

Hotel and Climb Reservation:

No guide, permit, or trail reservations are required.  There is a small fee to enter the park during summer months.

Off of Route 23 in the Northwest tip of New Jersey.
