Getting There:

Taum Sauk Mountain State Park is located off of road "CC" near the town of Ironton. Follow the signposts to the end of the road,, where there is a parking area and trailhead.

Trip Description:

Somebody said to get to this trail-head, "drive into the middle of nowhere, and then make a left". The park is in a remote area of the state and cell service is spotty. The hike to the summit is unremarkable...basically 1/4 mile down a well marked path. Oddly, despite all the signs, there is one fork in the path and the "summit" direction is not marked...you will want to stay on the paved path to the left. There is a small seating area at the summit along with a granite marker. The area is heavily wooded and there are no views, although there is a nice view from the road about 1/4 mile before the parking area.
