Background information:

Altitude: 1,670'

Tidbits:  Highest point in Iowa.

Summitted, September 28, 2011

Time Zone: GMT -6 hours

When to go:

The summit is reachable any time of year.

Route Selection:

No selection is required.  The summit is on private property but as of the writing of this webpage post, the owners welcome highpointers (please check blogs or the highpointers website to make sure that this is still the case before entering their property).

Packing List:

Nothing special.

Getting There:

In Sibley, go North on Route 60 for about 2 1/2 miles to 130th Street. Go east for 1/4 mile to the farm on the right. The second driveway takes you along the side of the farmhouse to the highpoint where the farm owners have a marker and some other welcoming items.

Trip Description:

I was really taken by Iowa...friendly people, a more relaxed pace, and beautiful landscapes. Although there are no stellar views from the highpoint, the ride is quite pleasant and the area is serene.

The approach road...you will have the road to yourself for much of the trip
